TRAVEL AND FOOTBALL

As well as being an avid traveller, for almost all of my life I have also been a fanatic follower of football. Coming from a family of big football fans, I went to my first Chelsea game with my father at the age of 4, and ever since then I have loved playing, watching, and travelling to see the sport. I also have a particular fascination with stadiums and football culture, so when I travel, I always try and see if I can fit in a game of a local team (or two!). For me it really is quite an underrated way of experiencing a culture. Where else in a destination can you be surrounded by thousands of animated locals? There certainly aren’t many places!

As mentioned, I’ve been attending football games for many years, but I’ve recorded on this website the games that I have attended overseas since the pandemic. The games are grouped by region and on each of those pages you will see match tickets representing each of the games that I went to. On each ticket there are two buttons, one which you can click on to see my match experience, and another where I have left some observations and photos relative to my time in that particular destination.

This part of my website is currently a work in progress. I came up with the idea for a travel and football section after I’d already completed many of the trips, so I’m still working through some of the write ups and imagery. Still, a lot of them are detailed already, and I'll update the rest at the same time as I job search. Enjoy!
